A bull float is a long‑handled concrete finishing tool used to smooth and level freshly placed concrete before it begins to set, creating a uniform, closed surface that’s ready for troweling. Its wide, flat, magnesium blade glides across the slab, pushing down aggregate, filling low spots, and bringing up a creamy paste for a cleaner finish. Attached to one or more extension handles, a bull float lets the operator reach far across the pour without stepping onto the wet concrete, making it essential for driveways, sidewalks, slabs, and large flatwork. Its simple design, long reach, and ability to quickly refine the surface make it one of the first and most important tools used after screeding.
